Section 7 is pleased to present Michael K. McCullouch as Section 7's candidate for the 2024 Statewide Transportation Professional Engineer of the Year. Mike graduated from Clarkson University in 1999 with a B.S. in Civil / Environmental Engineering. He began his engineering career with Bernier, Carr & Associates, before joining the NYSDOT in 2001. Mike obtained his Professional Engineering license in 2006 and has served in many roles in Region 7 Design including bridge design, Project Manager / Squad Leader, Regional Hydraulic Engineer, and currently as Regional Structures Management Engineer (RSME). Mike has been serving a dual role for the past 3 years as both the RSME and the Regional Hydraulics Engineer due to staffing shortages. He always rises to the occasion when tasked with additional duties, and brings well thought out solutions to the table when bridge and culvert issues arise.
Mike has been a member of NYSATE since 2001. He has been very active in the section, and currently serves as the Treasurer for Section 7. Mike has attended several conferences. He also served on the social committee organizing tours as well at the Ice Breaker event at the very successful Conference 76 in Lake Placid.
Mike also volunteers in other organizations. Mike has served since 2012 on the scholarship committee for the Public Employees Federation (PEF). In addition to that role with PEF, he also works on a joint effort between PEF and the Employees Assistance Program (EAP) to raise money and collect non-perishable food items for the Watertown Urban mission each holiday season. Mike has also been involved in the State Civil Service Employees Federal Credit Union since 2013, serving on the Board of Directors as the Treasurer. Mike is married to his beautiful wife Karrie, and they have a 10 year old daughter, Fynn. When not active at work, or volunteering, Mike and his family stay active with outdoor activities including boating, biking, hiking and skiing.
